Nanobiotechnology to Inspire the Next Generation of the Skilled Biomanufacturing Workforce

Chemical Processes, Design, Materials, Recycling & Reuse, Sensors, Sustainable Manufacturing
Format: Hybrid
Audience: Educators, Undergraduate
Partners: University of North Carolina, Greensboro, Forsyth Technical Community College, Genome Insights

This program inspires students by putting cutting-edge nanobiotechnologies like hand-held DNA sequencers and scanning electron microscopes into their hands to reveal the hidden and powerful universe of soil microbes. These immersive hands-on experiences are supplemented with tours and lectures at corporations where these technologies are being applied. The National Center for the Biotechnology Workforce at Forsyth Technical Community College hosts the in-house sessions. To maximize the impact of the program, it focuses on “Teaching the Teachers” so they can carry the message to a broad audience of students.
