Doud’s Market on Mackinac Island, believed to be America’s oldest family operated grocery store, is celebrating 140 years of serving island residents and visitors.

“It’s a wide variety of people we are serving,” owner Andrew Doud said. He has run the store since 2008 and represents the fourth generation of Douds at the helm.

LIFT, the Detroit-based Department of Defense national advanced materials manufacturing innovation institute, today announced it has launched a project to explore the potential for a new Hypersonic and Extreme Environment Test (HEET) facility at or near Selfridge Air National Guard Base in Michigan.
