The NIIMBL eXperience offers college freshman and sophomores real-world insight into career possibilities in the biopharmaceutical industry through direct interactions with industry professionals. During a multi-week virtual program, students learn about the operations of large biomanufactuers, cutting-edge technologies of small companies, training and education paths from academic institutions, and how the federal government plays a role in bringing life-saving treatments to patients.
The program targets African American/Black, Hispanic/Latino(a), and Native American students at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and NIIMBL member institutions. It is open to students enrolled in any STEM-based major.
Over the course of two weeks, students will attend a series of virtual interactive sessions and presentations hosted by experts from the biopharmaceutical industry, non-profits, and academia. Students will come away from the experience with a deeper understanding of how the biopharmaceutical industry impacts the lives of patients around the world. Plus, they will explore pathways to a successful career in the industry.
In addition, the program focuses on aspects of career development beyond biopharma such as networking and personal branding.
