Lavinia Sebastian Hired as New Manager of Education and Workforce Development

Power Electronics

PowerAmerica is pleased to announce that Lavinia Sebastian has joined the team as our new Manager of Education and Workforce Development. She will be responsible for expanding our education offerings, broadening the scope of education programming to include technician and operator training, and reaching out to underserved and non-traditional students to help build a diverse talent pipeline.

Sebastian brings a wealth of relevant experience to this role and is a welcome addition to our growing team. She has over 14 years of higher education experience working for two- and four-year public institutions. Before joining PowerAmerica, Sebastian held a similar role at Mesa Community College in Arizona and also taught at Arizona State University. She also has industry experience as a project engineer, working internationally on integrated design and embedded software.

Sebastian’s background in applied physics and electrical engineering makes her ideally suited to the broad scope of PowerAmerica’s SiC and GaN engineering and applications. Throughout her career, she’s shown a passion for helping students succeed and achieve their full potential in the STEM field — establishing technical boot camps, broad STEM training (calculus, chemistry, physics, computer science) and career-tailored technical training for Arizona’s semiconductor industry.

We are excited to have her on the PowerAmerica team. With Sebastian’s leadership, PowerAmerica looks forward to working with our members and other stakeholders to expand our education and workforce development activities.
