The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and Freelancer.com have teamed up to help crowdsource solutions to increase manufacturing energy productivity in the U.S. DOE is working to develop next generation manufacturing technologies that will keep jobs in America, ensure products are made in the U.S.A., and strengthen America's industrial base.
Prize competitions can be a powerful way to foster innovation. DOE has been working to develop small-scale prizes to attract broad industry participation to help creatively solve today's manufacturing challenges.
As part of Manufacturing Day, DOE launched the Manufacturing Innovator Challenge, which focuses on advances in additive manufacturing, also known as 3D printing, among other topics. There are six Manufacturing Prize Opportunities.
