Revitalize American Manufacturing and Innovation Act

U.S. Congress

On December 16, 2014, the President signed into law the Revitalize American Manufacturing and Innovation Act (RAMI Act), which gave Congressional authorization to the Advanced Manufacturing National Program Office and authorized the Department of Commerce to hold “open-topic” competitions for manufacturing innovation institutes so that the manufacturing community could propose topics of highest importance to them.

To maximize the benefits from our advanced manufacturing institutes, the RAMI Act tasked the Department of Commerce, working with the Departments of Defense and Energy, to integrate the institutes into a nationwide network that coordinates and leverages their individual and collective strengths.
