The Board of the ARM (Advanced Robotics for Manufacturing) Institute has appointed Mr. Jorgen Pedersen, a highly accomplished and experienced robotics and manufacturing executive, as Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective June 17, 2025. Mr. Pedersen succeeds Mr. Ira Moskowitz in the role following Mr. Moskowitz’s retirement. Mr. Moskowitz will remain on-staff with the institute to guide the transition throughout the month of June.

The ARM Institute is the nation’s leading robotics and AI Department of Defense Manufacturing Innovation Institute (MII), part of the Manufacturing USA® network. Structured as a public-private partnership of 450+ consortium member organizations, the ARM Institute leverages a robust set of capabilities to strengthen the U.S. defense and commercial industrial base by fostering collaboration between industry, government, and academia, catalyzing and transitioning impactful, dual-use robotics and AI innovations, and spurring powerful, national workforce solutions.

Mr. Pedersen was selected by the ARM Institute’s Board of Directors following a robust CEO search. Since the ARM Institute’s inception in 2017, the organization has become a highly regarded leader in robotics, artificial intelligence (AI), manufacturing, and workforce development. As such, there was an immense amount of interest across the nation in the CEO position; Mr. Pedersen was selected from a large pool of highly qualified candidates.

Mr. Pedersen has more than twenty-five (25) years of technology leadership experience managing all aspects of robotics, manufacturing, and R&D companies with strategic relationships in the government, defense, technology, and manufacturing sectors.

A highlight of Mr. Pedersen’s career was starting RE2 Robotics, a leading developer and innovator of intelligent modular manipulation systems, in 2001. As Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Pedersen hired and managed a team of over 100 employees, delivered hundreds of high-use robotic solutions to the Department of Defense and commercial customers that were manufactured in Pittsburgh, PA, secured Series A funding after bootstrapping the business for 13 years, forged key strategic relationships in aviation, construction, and medical markets leading to a 300% increase in revenue post Series A, and spearheaded government proposals that led to $75M+ of contracts. Mr. Pedersen also led the negotiations and due diligence for the successful acquisition of RE2 Robotics by Sarcos Technology and Robotics Corporation for $100M in 2022.
